Keep your puppy protected with a vaccination plan.
Starting your puppy off on the right foot sets them up for a lifetime of success. A thorough and timely vaccination schedule is an integral part of their life long health. Additionally, with each puppy visit, there is a complete physical exam as well as time spent on key areas that are important in their overall development such as parasite control, behaviour, grooming, oral health and nutrition.
We typically follow a 3-visit plan beginning at 8 weeks of age with 3-4 weeks between visits. Puppies may receive one or multiple vaccines at each visit depending on age and vaccines needed. Remember that each pet is unique, and we look to tailor our plans to the pet. We believe that puppy vaccinations should not begin before 8 weeks of age to avoid the vaccines competing with existing maternal antibodies.
We can vaccinate for Distemper/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza, Bordetella (aka Kennel Cough), Rabies, Leptospirosis and Lyme Disease. Your pet may need some or all of these vaccines. Together, you and your vet will determine the best vaccine schedule and plan for your pup.
Puppy vaccinations should begin at 8 weeks of age with booster vaccines occurring at 3-4 week intervals after the initial visit.
Vaccines are recommended to begin at 8 weeks of age. They require multiple boosters 3-4 weeks apart in a four-part series.
We want your puppy’s visit to be a success for everyone involved. A great way to prepare is to have a carrier at home that your pup is used to so that it is not something new or scary for them. Being in a carrier that smells of the home offers security and stability for your pet. Ask us for tips on how to get your pet used to their carrier.
Be sure to call ahead to schedule your appointment, and let us know it is their first vet visit! When possible, provide us with your puppy’s medical history ahead of time by dropping it off or emailing it in. If this is not possible, please bring any medical records and/or medications you have with you on your visit.
When you arrive, we will get more detailed information from you about your puppy.
During your puppy’s physical exam, your vet will help you decide what vaccinations they will benefit from. This will determine the cost. We are happy to review all fees before treatments are provided.
